Davida D. Barter

Davida has been a legal secretary/paralegal since 1972 and employed at Wright & Mills since 1982. She graduated from Skowhegan Area High School and is currently taking public administration courses at the University of Maine.

Davida's duties at Wright & Mills include family matters, real estate, wills and probate.

She has participated in numerous legal secretarial/paralegal seminars. Since l975, she has been a member of NALS, the association for legal professionals, and was instrumental in forming Kennebec-Somerset Legal Secretaries Association (KSLSA), now known as NALS of Central Maine. Davida is a past president of NALS of Central Maine and NALS of Maine. She has received KSLSA's Legal Secretary of the Year Award, and NALS of Maine Award of Excellence.

She is very active in community affairs. She has been a member of GFWC/Maine Federation of Women's Clubs since l974 and served as its president from l992 to l994. She is a past president of the GFWC/Semper Fidelis Club and past president of the Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce. She has held elected positions on the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Skowhegan and currently holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer of Coburn Park Commission. She received Citizen of the Year Awards from the Chamber of Commerce in 1982 and 1992, as well as from the Skowhegan Madison Elks in 2001.

Brenda L. Lyons

Brenda has been a legal secretary/paralegal at Wright & Mills in Skowhegan since 1982. She attended Thomas College and holds an Associate's Degree in legal secretarial studies, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and a Master's Degree in Human Resources. She has served as President of the Maine Association of Legal Support Staff. Brenda received the Award of Excellence from the Kennebec-Somerset Legal Secretaries Association and the Maine Association of Legal Support Staff.

While at Wright & Mills, she manages all files pertaining to personal injury claims, criminal cases, real estate and other litigation. In doing so, she answers and propounds interrogatories, interviews witnesses, photographs accident scenes, tracks court and deposition schedules, assembles and structures medical records, coordinates trial preparation and performs a variety of other functions necessary for effective management of civil litigation. She also shares payroll and other bookkeeping responsibilities.
